NORTH ATTLEBORO - The percentage of people testing positive for COVID continues to rise according to data released Thursday by the department of Public Health for the two-week period ending Wednesday.
North Attleboro recorded its fifth straight week of increased positivity rates after 11 straight weeks of declines.
The positivity rate was 8.05 percent of the 2,668 tests performed over the last two weeks. That’s the highest rate in the area and is up more than a point than last week’s 6.99. The number was 5.47 two weeks ago, 3.68 percent three weeks ago and 2.44 four weeks back.
Plainville also experienced an increase for a fifth straight week. The latest positivity rate was 7.62 percent of the 892 tests administered. That percentage is up more than three points from last week’s 4.51. The number was at 3.85 two weeks ago, 3.17 three weeks back and 2.13 percent four weeks ago.
Statewide, the positivity rate was 4.46 percent, up from last week’s 3.60.
COVID dominated the conversation Wednesday during the quarterly recording of “Inside Look: Public Health Nurse Anne Marie Fleming.”
Fleming addressed reports that the majority of people contracting COVID are those who choose not to get vaccinated.
