BOSTON - A town resident was charged with murder in Boston Tuesday in what authorities say was a deadly shooting related to a domestic dispute involving three people.
Widmaer Lapaix, 27, was ordered held without bail after pleading innocent in Roxbury District Court.
Our partners at The Sun Chronicle reported Lapaix was arrested at an apartment complex in the Roxbury section of Boston where police say 41-year-old Maceo Martin was found outside about 1:36 a.m. Tuesday, shot once in the chest with a .40 caliber rifle.
Martin was taken to a hospital where he was pronounced dead.
David Linton reported in Wednesday’s edition of the paper police say they were called about an hour earlier to the complex after Martin showed up at the apartment of an ex-girlfriend, who is the mother of his children, angry that she was with another man.
She asked that police remove him from the complex because he was constantly ringing her doorbell and calling her.
Martin left but returned to the apartment complex where authorities allege Lapaix, who is the woman’s new boyfriend, shot Martin through a window.
Lapaix, who legally possessed the weapon, was arrested soon afterwards and police say they recovered the rifle.
A prosecutor told the court that police found a spent .40 caliber shell in the front pocket of his sweatshirt, according to WCVB, Channel 5.
The case was continued for a probable cause hearing on October 30, according to court records.
