North officials warn of email scam

NORTH ATTLEBORO - Town officials are alerting residents about a scam that’s been circulating, claiming to come from the town’s planning board.

The email appears official, featuring a town address and formal language.

It addresses specific individuals and states their “Residential Structure application” has been approved.

The email then requests the recipient pay an attached invoice via wire transfer to finalize the approval.

It is not a legitimate request.

The town does not request wire payments via email and will never demand immediate payment as a condition for application approval without prior in-person communication, public hearings, or official documentation.

If you’ve received this message or something similar, please report it to town officials and the Federal Trade Commission at reportfraud.ftc.com.
