FRANKLIN - Week two of the Massachusetts Interscholastic Athletic Association’s winter state tournament begins Monday with only a few area school teams still alive.
The MIAA tournaments are now true statewide events, as opposed to the four sectionals used in the past, before moving on to state competitions.
Seedings for the tournaments have also changed. A team's winning percentage is no longer the sole factor in seeding. The association now uses a formula that takes into account records, margins of victory and strength of schedule.
The method used to rank teams was one of the topics on the agenda during a recording of “Up for Discussion: Winter Sports Edition” with North TV’s Jared Ware (yes, he’s officially back with us), Mark Farinella, Del Malloy and WARA radio’s Paul Healy.
