North's solid waste department announces key dates

NORTH ATTLEBORO - The solid waste department has announced a number of key dates for residents to note over the next two months.

A curbside bulky metal pickup will take place this Wednesday, April 6. In order to participate in the curbside pickup, a resident's annual trash fee must be paid in full and a call must be made to the solid waste hotline at 508-699-0151 no later than noon on Monday.

North Attleboro is partnering again this year with The Great American Rain Barrell Company to sell rain barrels to residents. Barrels must be purchased ahead of time by visiting the company’s website at greatamericanrainbarrel.com/community. You then select Massachusetts and North Attleboro.

Barrels are offered at a discounted price of $79 for painted barrels and $74 for unpainted. The barrels must be picked up on Thursday, April 28 from 4 to 6 p.m. at the recycling center at 777 Mount Hope Street. The deadline for purchasing a barrel is April 18 at midnight.

The first household hazardous waste day of 2022 will be held on Saturday, April 30 at the highway garage at 240 Smith Street from 9 a.m. to noon. Residents must have a current 2022 recycling sticker affixed to their car window.

For those of you who do yard work, the spring curbside yard waste collection will take place on resident’s trash/recycling collection days during the weeks of May 2 and May 9.

There is a limit of 14 bags per day and yard waste must be in acceptable containers.

Grass clippings and leaves must be in biodegradable bags designed for yard waste or in a brown shopping bag. Brush and branches must be six inches or less in diameter and less than four feet long bundled and tied with twine or rope. Sticks cannot be put into bags. The bags and bundles must not exceed 50 pounds each.

No plastic bags or loose material in barrels will be accepted. No limbs, trees, stumps, dirt, sand, rocks, asphalt, bricks, concrete or yard ornaments will be picked up.
