Police and firefighters responded to the accident shortly after 9:30 a.m.
The victim, later identified as Daniel Stober, was rushed to Sturdy Memorial Hospital, according to our partners at The Sun Chronicle. He was then med-flighted to Rhode Island Hospital in Providence where he pronounced dead at about 11:15 a.m., the Bristol County District Attorney’s office said.
Stephen Peterson reported in the front-page story the driver of the vehicle, a 24-year-old Attleboro man, remained on scene and attempted to provide aid to the victim.
He was interviewed by police and was not placed under arrest, the DA’s office said.
The 2013 GMC Acadia ended up crashing into a utility pole after the pedestrian collision, heavily damaging the front end of the SUV and the pole.
