Plainville passes $38.6 million budget

PLAINVILLE - Residents at Monday’s annual town meeting unanimously approved a budget for the new fiscal year that will begin at the end of the month.

The $38.6 million FY23 budget is up $1.8 million over the current fiscal year.

The increase is due in mostly due to a $480,000 increase for public safety, $700,000 for the town’s two elementary schools and $520,000 for the King Philip middle and high schools.

In addition, residents approved multiple zoning changes to help attract businesses in the downtown and on Route 1.
