Planning board approves new Rt. 1 hotel

NORTH ATTLEBORO - Longtime residents know the property at 777 South Washington Street as the former location of Rattey’s.

The home of buttered hamburgers and radio operated auto races was a Route 1 institution before fast food chains like Burger King, McDonald’s and Wendy’s forced it out of the business.

A proposed four-story hotel on the property diagonally across from Showcase Cinemas was originally approved by the town’s planning board two years ago

Issues with a sewer main on Quinn Street and fire access to the rear of the building forced developers to resubmit plans Thursday night to the planning board. Members unanimously approved the changes.
