NORTH ATTLEBORO - There's still some work to do on the town budget for fiscal year 2022.
The $99.5 million budget presented to the town council Monday night during the board's virtual meeting represents an increase of $3.9 million dollars over this year’s budget. A preliminary budget does not have to be balanced, so there is a shortfall of $1.8 million.
Town Manager Michael Borg presented the budget per the town charter, which requires a first draft be given to the council by mid-February.
Borg’s presentation disclosed that Police Chief John Reilly will be retiring in June. The 53-year-old Reilly has been a part of the North Attleboro police department for 33-years, starting as a dispatcher.
