Rollover closes lanes on I-295

NORTH ATTLEBORO - A tractor-trailer rolled over on Interstate 295 Wednesday morning, spilling diesel fuel near a waterway.

The accident was reported at about 9:25 a.m. on I-295 South just south of Route 1.

Our partners at The Sun Chronicle reported in Thursday’s edition the driver of the truck which was carrying roof trusses self-extricated himself and suffered only minor injuries, fire officials said.

No other injuries were reported.

The truck ended up on its side off the roadway, and it was estimated 80 gallons of diesel fuel spilled.

Firefighters dammed up an adjacent small stream.

The two right lanes were closed off, tying up traffic.

The state Department of Environmental Protection responded to the scene as did State Transportation workers.

North Attleboro firefighters left the accident at about 10:35 a.m.
