NORTH ATTLEBORO -The first two goals since mid-October were enough for the North Attleborough girls soccer team to outlast Sharon 2-0 in their penultimate game of the season.
The Red Rocketeers started the game on their heels due to pressure from the Eagles, but their offense clicked into gear thanks to sophomore Emma Pratt.
Minutes after checking into the game, Pratt controlled a chipped pass from fellow sophomore Clara Giuliano before looping a half-volleyed effort over the head of stranded Sharon goalkeeper Cass Barbera to give North a 1-0 lead at the half
North put the game away in the closing minutes off of a free kick.
Sophomore Haley Sinacola lofted a shot into the penalty area. The ball ended up in the path of on-rushing Siobhan Weir, who deposited it into the goal.
The North defense protected the early advantage diligently to secure the clean sheet.
A stand out shift was put in by senior defender Katie Manning. The imposing center back hardly put a foot wrong on the night and won numerous challenges for the Red Rocketeers. For her contributions in helping North earn itsthird shut-out of the year, Manning was named North TV’s Player of the Game.
North (3-4-2) will close out the season on Friday afternoon in the second game of the home and home series at Sharon (1-7-1).
