Strachan, Laplante earn POTW honors

FOXBORO -The North TV staff completed the busiest fall sports season in our 19-year history with the King Philip and North Attleboro Super Bowl games last week at Gillette Stadium capping off a 52-game season.

King Philip’s championship game was the last of three games last Thursday night, December 5th. Unfortunately for fans of the Warriors, KP lost its first and most important game of the season 39-21 to Catholic Memorial in the Division 2 Super Bowl.

North Attleboro also played in the last game of the night. The Red Rocketeers routed fellow Hockomock League Davenport Division member Mansfield 35-0 last Friday, December 6th in the Division 3 championship game.

The North TV staff decided to go with two Players of the Week for our final week of the fall season.

North Attleboro’s Frankie Strachan cleared holes all night for his fellow backs in the Red Rocketeers’ five touchdown win. The 6’1” 255 junior, wearing number 7, also scored a touchdown to be named our NAHS Player of the Week.

King Philip’s Drew Laplante exploded for 157-yards on 17 rushes. The 6’ 185-pound senior, wearing number 21, also scored the Warriors first touchdown on a 64-yard run to be named our KP Player of the Week.

Frankie and Drew will receive copies of their games on USB drives and North TV Player of the Week t-shirts in North Attleboro red and King Philip gold, respectively.

We’ll announce our Player of the Week for the first week of the winter sports season next week at this time.
