Sweeney earns Player of the Week honors

NORTH ATTLEBORO - The North TV sports crew covered four games in five nights last week.

We were at the Foxboro Sports Center for Monday night’s Bishop Feehan vs. King Philip boys’ hockey game. The Shamrocks skated away with an easy 7-1 in ending the Warriors’ five-game winning streak.

North Attleboro’s Pickering Gymnasium was the site of Tuesday’s girls’ basketball version of the Thanksgiving Day rivalry. Just as they did last November, the Red Rocketeers ran past the Blue Bombardiers, pulling out a 65-55 win.

The action was on the ice again Wednesday night, this time at Attleboro’s New England Sports Village. Bishop Feehan’s skaters picked up where they left off on Monday, this time blanking North Attleboro 6-0.

We closed out the week on Friday with another girls’ basketball game at NAHS. Unfortunately for the hometown Red Rocketeers, they were dumped by defending state champion Foxboro 54-29.

Our Player of the Week comes from Tuesday’s North Attleboro victory over Attleboro on the hardcourt. Senior guard Samantha Sweeney, wearing number-21, scored 13 points, including a number of key baskets to help the Red Rocketeers win their fourth game of the season.

Samantha will receive a copy of Tuesday’s win over Attleboro on a USB drive and a North TV Player of the Week t-shirt in North Attleboro red.

We’ll announce our Player of the Week for this week next week at this time.
